Museum Aan de Stroom - MAS, Belgium
Antwerp’s town council organized an international architecture competition for the design of a new city museum. Neutelings Riedijk Architects’ 'Stapelhuis’ design was selected by the jury am as the winning concept for MAS | Museum Aan de Stroom.
In the MAS, you will discover how the port city of Antwerp and the rest of the world have been bound together for hundreds of years. The MAS is the new home of the Ethnographic Museum, the National Shipping Museum and the Folklore Museum.
When designing the new museum repository, the conservator opt for a museum storage with public access. This has resulted in installing a Constructor Compactus® Double Decker mobile storage system to make optimum use of the available space. Restricted areas have been created and the collection is protected with wire-netting and glass walls. With installing this mobile storage system, the irreplaceable museum collection is stored clear and safe.
